光绪元宝是清朝光绪年间流通的货币之一。由湖北两广总督张之洞率先引进英国铸币机器铸造银元和铜元，之后各省纷纷仿效。共有十九个省局铸造，除中央户部，地方省所铸铜元，皆在其正面上缘镌写省名。
湖北省先后铸造发行的铜元有五种面值，分别是一文、二文、五文、十文和二十文。其中光绪元宝正面版别有中心六瓣花、八瓣圆菊花、六点五形花和中金钱四种，每一种的小版别都不少。背面龙纹有无珠水龙、珠圈水龙、珠圈小坐龙、特大龙、小胖龙、单冠龙等，各种版别之多不下千余种，目前发现的有数百种。
此湖北省造光绪元宝，正面珠圈内铸汉书“光绪元宝”字样，中央五形花纹饰，圈外上环书“湖北省造”，下环书“當十”，左右各书有满文钱局名。再看钱背：中心为蟠龙图，纹饰精美，龙鳞细腻，线条优美，流畅堪然，铸造工艺精湛，定睛一看仿佛一条翱翔天际的神龙，栩栩如生，惟妙惟悄。上下环英文，左右各一圆点心。此枚铜币铸造工艺精湛，字体、图案都符合当时的铸造特征，满文书法根基牢固、运笔自如、浑厚有力，图案纹理清晰，边齿规整，有明显的流通使用痕迹，包浆自然，极具收藏价值。
Guangxu Yuanbao was one of the currency in circulation during the reign of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty. Zhang Zhidong, governor of Hubei Province, first introduced the British coining machine to produce silver and copper coins, and then the provinces followed suit. There are 19 provincial bureaus casting, except for the central household department, local provinces casting copper yuan, all in its front edge engraved with the name of the province.
There are five denominations of copper coins successively cast and issued in Hubei Province, namely one Wen, two Wen, five Wen, ten Wen and twenty Wen. Among them, there are four kinds of front edition of Guangxu Yuanbao, namely central six petal flower, eight petal round chrysanthemum, six point five shape flower and Zhongqian money, each of which has many small editions. There are more than 1000 kinds of dragon patterns on the back, including pearl water dragon, pearl circle water dragon, pearl circle sitting dragon, giant dragon, little fat dragon, single crown dragon, etc.
On the front of the Pearl circle, the inscription "Guangxu Yuanbao" in Han Dynasty is cast, the central five shape flower pattern is decorated, the upper ring of the circle is "made in Hubei Province", the lower ring of the circle is "Dangshi", and the left and right books have Manchu coin Bureau names. Look at the back of the coin again: the center is the picture of the dragon, with exquisite patterns, delicate scales, beautiful lines, smooth and graceful, and exquisite casting technology. It looks like a dragon flying in the sky, lifelike, wonderful and quiet. Up and down ring English, left and right each round dim sum. This copper coin has exquisite casting technology, and its font and pattern are in line with the casting characteristics at that time. Manchu calligraphy has a solid foundation, can be used freely, thick and powerful. The pattern texture is clear, the edge teeth are regular, and there are obvious traces of circulation and use. The slurry is natural, so it has great collection value.
