据《新民晚报》报道，李霄鹏可能会在12强赛剩余的比赛中再次启用41岁老将郑智。
报道称，国足拍摄定妆照时，郑智是唯一一个既拍了教练照又拍了球员照的人，这被视为有可能重披国家队战袍。如果郑智参加12强赛，他将创造国足世预赛最年长出场球员纪录。
2021赛季，郑智代表广州队出场11次，贡献1个助攻。
