元春始风华，万象启新朝。值此辞旧迎新之际，我谨代表世界运河历史文化城市合作组织（WCCO），向一直关心支持我们的会员朋友和各界人士致以亲切的问候和美好的祝福！
过去的一年，在各位会员、各界人士的鼎力支持下，WCCO积极搭建世界运河城市交流合作新桥梁，持续探索世界运河城市共建共享新路径，努力谱写世界运河城市繁荣发展新篇章。
我们以运河为基，奋楫笃行。坚持在传承创新中赓续历史文脉，参与主办中国大运河申遗成功十周年暨2024中国大运河文化带京杭对话活动，精心举办2024世界运河古镇高质量发展合作机制会议、运河城市精品景区合作机制会议，进一步推动世界运河城市文化遗产保护和文旅融合发展，努力让运河展现时代新风貌。
我们以运河为媒，携手并进。坚持在交流合作中推动城市发展，组织赴巴拿马、意大利开展运河文化国际交流活动，积极发起世界运河城市“Canal Walk行动”“国际组织研学营”等多元化活动，深入推动与意中经济文化交流协会、巴拿马圣米格里托市等全方位合作，进一步推动世界运河城市交流互通和合作共赢，努力让运河城市携手迈上新台阶。
我们以运河为脉，扬帆起航。坚持在文明互鉴中扩大运河影响，深入参与第29届联合国气候变化大会，成功获得《联合国气候变化框架公约》观察员身份，积极参加世界运河大会、国际水文化研讨会、“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛、江苏省—东盟国家民间友好组织交流大会等活动，进一步推动运河文化传播和凝聚文明共识，努力让运河文化不断焕发新活力。
运河是人类智慧与文明的杰作，是人与自然和谐共生的见证，也是不同文明之间交流合作的纽带。新的一年，WCCO将与世界运河城市携手一道、共同努力，在加强文明交流、促进文化融通、赋能城市发展等方面深化合作，不断探索运河可持续发展的新路径新图景，加快打造运河城市发展共同体，努力推动运河在新时代焕发出更加璀璨的光芒！

Dear friends, ladies and gentlemen,
Greetings to you all. Every new year brings fresh chapter yet unwritten, waiting for our stories to unfold. In this joyous moment of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, let me extend, on behalf of World Historic and Cultural Canal Cities Cooperation Organization (WCCO), my warmest festive greetings and best wishes to all our members and friends from various sectors who have been consistently supportive of us.
In the past year, under your strong support, WCCO has been actively forging new pathways for exchange and collaboration among world canal cities, driving fresh momentum for continuous innovation, and committing itself to crafting a new chapter of prosperity and development for canal cities worldwide.
Building on the foundation of canals, we forge ahead with diligence and fortitude. WCCO is committed to safeguarding the historical and cultural heritage through inheritance and innovation by hosting the 10th Anniversary of the Successful Inscription of China’s Grand Canal as a World Heritage and the 2024 Beijing-Hangzhou Dialogue on the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, organizing the 2024 World Canal Ancient Town High Quality Development Cooperation Mechanism Conference and the 2024 Canal City Quality Scenic Area Cooperation Mechanism Conference. These efforts further contribute to the integration of culture and tourism in global canal cities, showcasing the charm of the Grand Canal in the new era.
With canals as our medium, we strengthen partnerships for shared success and prosperity. WCCO is committed to promoting cities development in communication and cooperation by organizing cultural exchange activities in Panama and Italy, initiating the “Canal Walk Action” and the “International Organization Study Camp” for canal cities worldwide, and establishing long-term cooperation intentions with the Italy-China Institute for Economic and Cultural Exchanges and the Municipality of San Miguelito in Panama. These initiatives pave new paths for cultural exchange and economic cooperation among global canal cities, uniting canal cities to achieve greater success together.
Following the veins of canals, we innovate with confidence and vision. WCCO is committed to expanding the influence of canals through mutual learning among civilizations by attending the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference and obtained observer status under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, participating in the World Canals Conferences, the 4th International Seminar on Water Culture the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, and the 1st Exchange Conference for Jiangsu province with Civil Organizations in ASEAN countries, and other activities. These efforts help spread canal culture and build shared understanding, keeping canal culture vibrant and alive.
Canals stand as remarkable achievements of human ingenuity and civilization, embodying the harmonious relationship between humanity and nature while serving as vital conduits for cultural exchanges and collaborations between different civilizations. In the new year, WCCO will continue to work with canal cities worldwide to deepen cooperation in areas such as enhancing cultural exchanges, advancing cultural integration, and driving urban innovation. Together, we will pioneer new strategies and visions for sustainable canal development, accelerate the formation of a shared community for global canal cities, and work tirelessly to ensure that canals radiate even more brilliantly in this new era.
