Winter Begins (Chinese: 立冬) is the nineteenth of the 24 solar terms, and the very start of winter.

As the cold settles in, nature slows down to rest and restore. Poplar forests fade from gold to quiet brown, while the steam of roasted sweet potatoes drifts warmly through the city streets.

In traditional Chinese wisdom, winter is the season to preserve warmth, nourish yin, and store energy — to rest more, and scatter less.

Now’s the time for gentle comfort:

sip tea by the stove, bake tangerines, enjoy longan and Ejiao to strengthen and soothe from within.

Let warmth grow within, and your energy quietly renew.
